Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is a serious violation of academic and professional ethics, and the Linguistics Journal takes it very seriously. The journal is committed to ensuring the originality of all published research and combating any form of plagiarism.

  1. Definition of Plagiarism: Plagiarism includes any unauthorized use of the ideas, words, data, or work of others and presenting them as the original author's work, without clear and proper attribution to the source. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Verbatim copying of a portion of a text without citing or attributing the source.

    • Paraphrasing other people's ideas without citing the source.

    • Use of data or graphics without permission or attribution.

    • Self-plagiarism: Republishing or using substantial portions of an author's previously published work without crediting the original source.

  2. Plagiarism Detection Tools: The Linguistics Journal uses Turnitin , the world's leading plagiarism detection software. All research submitted to the journal is checked by this software to ensure originality and determine the degree of similarity to other published sources.

  3. Permissible citation percentage: The permissible citation percentage must not exceed 25% of the total research content. This percentage includes all forms of similarity to other sources, whether direct or indirect citations (paraphrasing), with the exception of the reference list.

  4. Plagiarism Handling Procedures: a. During the initial screening stage: If the Turnitin screening shows that the plagiarism rate exceeds 25%, the author will be notified. The manuscript may be rejected outright, or the author may be asked to make substantial changes to reduce plagiarism and clarify sources, and the screening may be repeated. b. During the peer review or post-publication stage: If plagiarism or research misconduct is discovered at any later stage (during peer review or even post-publication), the journal will take strict action, which may include: * Immediate rejection of the manuscript. * Withdrawal of the published manuscript from the journal's website. * Notification of the author's institution. * Banning the author from future publication in the journal.

  5. Author's Responsibility: Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their research and for any violations of the plagiarism policy. Authors are committed to submitting original work and correctly and clearly attributing all sources.

The Linguistic Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and calls on all researchers to adhere to these policies to ensure a reliable and ethical scientific publishing environment.
