Publication Ethics and Malpractice
The Linguistics Journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and adopts the guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Integrity in research and publication is a cornerstone of building reliable knowledge. This policy addresses the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, reviewers, and the editorial board.
1. Authors' responsibilities:
A. Originality and Non-Plagiarism: * Submitted research must be original and not previously published elsewhere. * Plagiarism in all its forms is prohibited, including verbatim copying, paraphrasing without attribution, or using others' ideas without citing the source. * All research is checked using Turnitin to ensure that plagiarism does not exceed 25% .
b. Substantial Contribution to Authorship: * Only individuals who have made a substantial and intellectual contribution to the research should be listed as authors. * All authors must approve the final version of the research and bear responsibility for its content.
C. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: * Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect the research results or their interpretation (such as financial support, or relationships with commercial entities).
d. Data Accuracy: * Authors must provide accurate and correct data. Fabrication or falsification of data is prohibited .
C. Republishing or double-publishing: * Authors may not submit the same research to more than one journal at the same time. * Republishing previously published research is prohibited without obtaining permission and clearly attributing the original source.
2. Responsibilities of arbitrators:
A. Contributing to editorial decisions: * Reviewers provide constructive and objective opinions to help the editorial board make informed decisions about publishing the research.
b. Objectivity: * Reviewers must evaluate research with complete objectivity and without bias, focusing on the scientific merit of the work.
C. Confidentiality: * All research under review is treated as confidential information . Reviewers may not discuss the research or its content with any third party.
d. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: * Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their evaluation of the research, and withdraw from the review process if necessary.
C. Disclosure of Similarities: * Reviewers must draw the attention of the editorial board to any substantial similarity or overlap between the research under review and any other published work of their knowledge.
3. Editorial Board Responsibilities:
A. Publication Decisions: * The editorial board makes publication decisions based on the importance of the research, its originality, clarity, and its relevance to the scope of the journal, without any bias.
B. Integrity and confidentiality: * The editorial board is committed to treating all research with complete confidentiality.
C. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: * Editorial Board members must disclose any conflicts of interest and refrain from dealing with research that may be affected by those interests.
d. Dealing with Malpractice: * If there are suspicions of research or editorial malpractice (such as plagiarism, data falsification, pseudonymization, or undisclosed conflicts of interest), the Linguistics Journal is committed to following COPE guidelines for investigating these cases. * Possible actions include: requesting clarification from authors, publishing a correction, retracting the paper, or notifying the relevant institutions.
These policies ensure that the linguistic journal operates within a strict ethical framework, enhancing trust in its research and contributing to the responsible development of scientific knowledge.
