Data Sharing Policy
The Linguistics Journal recognizes the growing importance of research data sharing in promoting transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration in scientific research. The journal strongly encourages authors to share data that support their research findings whenever possible, subject to ethical considerations and data protection laws.
-
Data Sharing Policy Objectives:
-
Increase transparency and accountability: Enable other researchers to examine the underlying data and validate the findings.
-
Enhance reproducibility and verifiability: Allowing data to be reanalyzed and additional studies conducted based on it.
-
Encourage collaboration and innovation: Provide opportunities for researchers to collaborate and use existing data to create new knowledge.
-
Increased research impact: Research supported by open data often receives more attention and is cited more frequently.
-
-
Data Types: Research data includes, but is not limited to: primary data sets, processed data sets, software codes, methodological materials, and supplementary materials that are used to support published findings.
-
The Journal's Expectations of Authors: a. Data Availability Statement: When submitting a manuscript, authors are required to include a statement in the "Data Availability" or "Supplementary Materials" section explaining whether the data are available and how they can be accessed. b. Data Deposit: The journal encourages authors to deposit their data in trusted, public data repositories (such as institutional or domain-specific data repositories). Repositories should provide a persistent numerical identifier (such as a DOI) for data access. c. Data Description: Authors should provide a clear description of the available data, including any relevant details about data collection, processing, and formatting, to enable others to understand and reuse it. d. Exceptions: The journal recognizes that it may not always be possible to share all data due to ethical constraints (such as sensitive personal data), legal constraints (such as confidentiality agreements), or patent restrictions. In these cases, authors should explain the reasons why the data cannot be shared in the Data Availability Statement.
-
Data Confidentiality and Participant Protection: The journal requires authors to ensure the protection of research participants' privacy and data confidentiality, especially when handling human data. Any data sharing must be conducted in compliance with relevant ethical and legal regulations.
-
The role of the magazine:
-
The Linguistic Journal does not host large datasets directly, but supports links to external repositories where data are deposited.
-
The Editorial Board will review data availability data submitted by authors to ensure compliance with this policy.
-
This data sharing policy aims to promote open research and encourage the research community to adopt better practices in data management and sharing, enriching the scientific environment as a whole.
